ThingerBits — STEM Academy & Electronics Store

Sri Lanka's robotics and electronics community platform — a components store, a four-level robotics academy and a maker community running on one site.

ThingerBits set out to be more than a parts shop. The site puts a genuine electronics store, a structured robotics curriculum and a maker community on the same platform, so a student can buy an Arduino, take the course that uses it, and publish the project they built with it without ever leaving the site.

The shop

A full e-commerce catalogue of genuine components and kits, organised by what a maker is actually reaching for: development boards (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32), sensors and motor drivers, robotics kits, power supplies and accessories, tools, and 3D printing materials. Island-wide delivery and warranty support are handled through the same flow.

The academy

A robotics academy structured across four progressive levels, from Arduino Foundations through to AI Robotics, with 16+ hands-on courses spanning 14 STEM categories. Classes run live in small groups and are project-based — deliberately tied to the hardware the shop stocks rather than taught in the abstract.

The community

Members publish their own builds across nine project categories, and an events section carries workshops and competitions alongside a schools programme. A knowledge base, tutorials and a blog round out the self-serve support.
